Read with AI without outsourcing the thinking

AI can give you an answer.
ilmVault asks what you think.

Read an idea. Write what you think. Then let the coach test your reasoning.

We are exploring whether AI can strengthen human judgement without replacing the effort that develops it.

You answer first. The coach answers you.

About 3 minutes

If good systems matter more than goals, what happens when a well-designed system repeatedly produces the wrong outcome?

Write your answer. The coach reads what you actually wrote, then presses on it. You get one revision.

Your answerOne clear sentence is enough. Rough is fine.

Why write first? Reading makes an idea feel familiar. Writing shows whether you can use it.

A question we are exploring with readers

As AI gets better at answering, what happens to our ability to think?

We do not think the answer is to reject AI. The more important question is whether AI can strengthen human judgement without replacing the effort that develops it.

ilmVault is how we are exploring that question. Use it. Challenge it. Tell us where it helps you think and where it gets in the way.

A system can be well designed but still optimise for the wrong measure.

You questioned what the system is optimising for. What evidence would show that the metric, rather than execution, is the problem?

The organisation had built a strong reputation in its core business. Its success depended on capabilities, relationships and operating assumptions that had developed over many years. Moving into a different market raised a harder question: which of those capabilities would actually transfer?

Think First · From pilot to open beta

We saw the strongest thinking when people thought first.

Before opening ilmVault more widely, we used the thinking framework with a small exploratory group of students and professionals. In those sessions, the strongest responses came when participants formed and expressed their own view before receiving AI feedback, rather than seeing the AI response first.

That early signal shaped ilmVault's core rule: your thinking comes first. You can write or record your response. The Coach then challenges what you actually thought, asks you to go further, and gives you a chance to refine it.

We have now opened the beta because a small pilot is not the final answer. We want more readers, students and professionals to use ilmVault in real reading and learning, challenge the framework, and help us understand where Think First genuinely improves reasoning and where it does not.

Early pilot findings are exploratory. We will publish a percentage improvement only when the sample size, task, scoring rubric and comparison method are documented well enough to support it.
